LANSING (WKZO) -- Despite an early and active flu season, Michigan health officials say that this year's flu shot is a good one.
In Thursday's Detroit Free Press Doctor Arnold Monto is quoted saying, "We can say the flu vaccine is a good vaccine, not a great vaccine." Doctor Monto says that on average about 70-percent of the people who get flu shots each year are protected against the flu. He also says that the 30-percent who get sick, develop a milder case because the vaccine gives them some resistance.
So far this year, 285 people in Michigan have had confirmed cases of the flu with four flu deaths, all children, reported.
