LANSING, MI (WHTC) - The ceremonial opening of a new state Legislative session is today in Lansing, with 26 new House members joining the Lower Chamber, while Senators begin the second half of their four-year terms. Michigan AFL-CIO leaders are urging their members and other unionized brethren to rally outside of the Capitol building today in protest of last month’s passage and signing of Right to Work legislation. Among the newcomers is Roger Victory of Jenison, who is replacing term-limited Dave Agema of Grandville in the state House. No meaningful actions are expected by lawmakers until after the Governor’s State of the State Address, which will be next Wednesday evening at 7 PM, with live coverage on 1450 WHTC and real-time streaming on http://whtc.com.
