DOUGLAS, MI (WHTC) - The Douglas City Council last night instructed City Manager Bill LeFevre to conduct a broad impact study on the costs of consolidation with neighboring Saugatuck, in light of last month’s decision by the State Boundary Commission to merge the two communities into a single governmental entity. It is expected that a popular vote of residents in the two cities will eventually determine the issue. The Saugatuck City Council may take up the matter next Monday.
