DETROIT (WKZO) -- The federal corruption trial of Kwame Kilpatrick, his father Bernard Kilpatrick, and contractor Bobby Ferguson has resumed after a break for the holidays.

Before the break, Kilpatrick's former assistant Marc Cunningham testified he paid Bernard Kilpatrick kickbacks.  Cunningham pleaded guilty in 2010 to one count of conspiracy to commit bribery for paying a Detroit official's relative in order to get a 30-million dollar pension fund deal.

Under the terms of his plea agreement with the government, Cunningham faces up to 37 months in prison, but could have his sentence reduced for his testimony in the Kilpatrick trial.  The prosecution expects to rest their case by the end of the month.
