CATCH IT: All Systems go for Michigan Winter Activities

UNDATED (WKZO) – Many Michiganders and tourists are dusting off their skis and heading to the slopes to enjoy the winter sport season.  Barry Owens, general manager of Treetops Resort in northern Michigan, has confirmed that ski resorts and parks throughout the state now have enough snow to open their slopes to those eagerly awaiting winter activities.

One new activity returning this year to Treetops Resort, located in Gaylord, MI, is being called extreme tubing. The newly invented recreational activity uses an oversized tube to race down the hillside where a tow rope is ready to take participants right back up for another turn. Extreme tubing may not be as good of a workout as regular skiing and snowboarding, but Owens guarantees that after just a one hour session, anyone would be hooked.

Check out the interview above with Owens on Michigan’s Big Show starring Michael Patrick Shiels.

Michigan’s Big Show can be heard on 590 AM/96.5 FM WKZO every weekday morning from 10-12 pm.
