Wings, Hawks Post Sunday Wins; Girls "March Magic" Begins on Monday


UNDATED (WHTC) - Damien Brunner scored twice and set up two other goals, as the Red Wings beat visiting Vancouver on Sunday, 8-3. Detroit plays the defending Stanley Cup champion Kings in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening. Hear the game on 1450 WHTC, beginning at 10:10 PM.

Andrew Shaw scored in the second period, and Corey Crawford made the slim margin stand up by stopped 28 shots, as the Blackhawks shut out visiting Columbus on Sunday, 1-0. Chicago hosts Edmonton at the United Center on Monday evening.


The girls' version of "March Magic" - the MHSAA basketball tournament - begins on Monday night with West Ottawa hosting Grandville, Zeeland East entertaining Byron Center, Zeeland West facing Allendale at Unity Christian, and Saugatuck home to North Muskegon.


Exhibition baseball on Sunday saw the Tigers tie Philadelphia, 5-5; the White Sox draw with the LA Dodgers, 2-2; and the Cubs defeat San Francisco, 4-3. On Monday, the Tigers face Philadelphia again, with coverage on 1450 WHTC at 1 PM, the Cubs battle the LA Dodgers, and the White Sox meet San Francisco.


College basketball on Sunday had Michigan upend visiting Illinois, 71-58, but MIchigan State fell at Ohio State, 68-60.


Russell Westbrook tossed in 23 points as Oklahoma City downed the visiting Bulls on Sunday night, 102-72. Chicago welcomes Cleveland to the United Center on Tueday evening.

The Detroit Pistons are home to Atlanta at the Palace on Monday night.


Chad Billins scored a three-goal hat trick as the Griffins outscored visiting San Antonio on Sunday, 7-3. Grand Rapids skates at Milwaukee on Friday evening.
