HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - By virtue of winning the MIAA Tournament title on Saturday, Hope College earned a home court berth for at least one, and perhaps the first two games of NCAA Division III women's basketball tournament play. The 26-1 Flying Dutch, snubbed out of March Madness last year despite a 22-5 record, will host 22-5 Wheaton in a first round game at DeVos Fieldhouse on Friday night. The other match up in Holland will pit Ohio Northern against Widener; the two winners will meet on Saturday. Game times will be announced on Tuesday; all of Hope's action will be on 92.7 The Van and http://927thevan.com/listen-live.
Calvin College, despite the loss to Hope at home on Saturday, also earned a NCAA berth; the Lady Knights will face St. Thomas of Minnesota in action at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. Should both the Dutch and Knights win their first two games in NCAA play, they would face each other in a regional semifinal next weekend.
The NCAA Division III women's basketball semifinals and finals will be at DeVos Fieldhouse on March 15-16.
