ANTWERP TOWNSHIP (WKZO) --The neighbors near Mattawan are shocked after a deadly party Saturday night at a facility that is normally reserved for children’s parties.

A 27-year-old man from Kalamazoo is dead and a 29-year-old from Battle Creek is in a medically induced coma after a savage beating, at a party at Antwerp Township Hall early Sunday Morning.

It was around 1:45 when investigators believe that angry words and hard feelings turned violent, someone pulled out a gun and shot the Kalamazoo man.

It was during that same altercation that the Battle Creek man suffered brain injuries from a beating. No names have been released.

State Police are investigating. It was an open invitation party advertised on the internet, and that’s made identifying a suspect tougher.
