HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - A long-range vision statement on the future of Windmill Island was submitted by a special committee to the Holland City Council last night. The committee sees the home of the DeZwaan Windmill as a center for the urban area; wants to enhance its natural resources while strengthening its physical links to neighboring public and private lands; and hopes it can build on the region’s Dutch heritage in new ways. A private group is raising funds for renovating the venerable Windmill. Council will use the statement as a guide for future planning.
