PORT SHELDON, MI (WHTC) - A North Side road was closed for about an hour this morning after a head-on crash. According to Ottawa County Sheriff's Sergeant Brent Converse, deputies were called to Butternut Drive between New Holland and Van Buren streets in Port Sheldon Township shortly after 8 AM. The southbound Jeep of Mark Jones lost control on the icy pavement and skidded into the path of the northbound Cadillac, driven by Joseph Sirlit. The 37-year-old Jones of Grand Haven refused treatment at the scene; the 48-year-old Sirlit of Port Sheldon was taken to Holland Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The road was closed for accident clean up and road deicing. Sergeant Converse added that both drivers were buckled up as the crash remains under investigation.
