WASHINGTON (WHTC) - LG/Chem has returned 842 thousand dollars out of a 150 million-dollar federal Recovery Act Grant after an investigation by the US Department of Energy confirmed reports of unproductive labor charges at its 48th Street plant in Holland, noting that idle workers were playing board games and watching movies at Government expense. Production has not yet begun there due to low consumer demand for the Chevy Volt vehicles that were to be powered by lithium-ion batteries made at the plant.
