JENISON, MI (WHTC) - Investigators from both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Traffic Safety Board will be going over the circumstances that led to the crash of a small plane that was attempting to land at Jenison’s Riverview Airport yesterday afternoon. It is believed that an icy runway was the major factor that caused Ben Schaeffer’s Cessna 172 craft to skid off into a snow bank and flip over, causing “significant” damage, although no dollar estimate was initially made. Schaeffer was able to walk away without serious injury.
