WEST OLIVE, MI (WHTC) - The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department has placed 10-year veteran deputy Michael VanderLaan on administrative duty pending the final disposition of a misdemeanor domestic violence count against him. The 41-year-old lawman was charged two weeks ago following an alleged scuffle with his estranged wife, who has since filed for divorce. VanderLaan had been assigned to patrol Georgetown Township before the incident.
