DEARBORN (WKZO) -- AAA of Michigan says gas prices have gone up an average of 31.8 cents in Michigan in the last week. That may be a record.
The average price is now three-dollars-69-cents a gallon. Last week the average price was three-dollars-35-cents. Oil industry analysts are blaming the price hike on rising crude oil prices and a small fire at a refinery outside of Toledo.
AAA spokesperson Nancy Cain says crude prices are rising because the global economy is improving and that means there is more demand for oil and that increases the price.
Nationwide, the price of gasoline has risen by an average of 17-cents in the past month.
