JACKSON, MI (WHTC) - It will be a long Christmas for those affected by power outages from last weekend ice storms, and for those working on repairing downed power lines and blown transformers.

Consumers Energy officials say that over 15 hundred of their staffers have been augmented by another thousand from utilities in 11 other states and the District of Columbia in handling more than nine thousand downed lines statewide. In excess of 300 thousand customers were affected, with over 33 hundred in Allegan County alone still in the dark as of Monday evening. It is estimated that power restoration could not come for some in the most remote areas until Saturday.
