UNDATED (WKZO) -- It looks like the worst of a wet weather pattern that brought ice storms to southern Michigan overnight have now passed to the northeast, but its left a coating of ice in some places and power outages scattered throughout the area.

Its just part of a disastrous mix of rain, ice, snow and tornadoes has been wreaking havoc on holiday travel plans.

The first official day of winter saw suspected tornadoes rip across parts of Arkansas yesterday, leaving several people injured.

At least two deaths in Mississippi are being blamed on the severe weather along with another fatality near Kansas City.

Hundreds of weekend flights have been canceled at airports nationwide and those heading out to airports this morning are advised to call ahead and check on the status of their flight.
