Red Wings Snap Skid; Plenty of Basketball on Our Stations Tonight


UNDATED (WHTC) - Three boys/girls doubleheaders highlight high school basketball action along the Lakeshore tonight, and we’ll carry the boys’ games in two of those twin bills on our stations. The Fennville at Saugatuck contest is on 92.7 The Van and http://927thevan.com/listen-live at 5:10 PM, followed at 7:10 PM on 1450 WHTC and http://whtc.com/listen-live by Zeeland East at Zeeland West. The other doubleheader is at the Holland Civic Center, where Holland Christian hosts Grand Rapids Christian. Boys’ games on tap include Grand Rapids Union at Holland, West Ottawa at Wayland, and Hamilton at Grandville.


Hope College’s Flying Dutchmen finally play a home game after opening the season with six road contest, as the Orange and Blue entertain Lake Forest in the Russ DeVette Classic this evening. Coverage from DeVos Fieldhouse on 92.7 The Van and http://927thevan.com/listen-live begins at 7:40 PM. The earlier match up at 6 PM features Illinois Wesleyan versus Wilmington.


Daniel Alfredson had a hand in all of the Red Wings’ scoring last night, capping a two-goal, one-assist performance by tallying the game-winning marker at the 1:03 mark of overtime to beat visiting Calgary, 3-2, and snap a six-game Detroit losing streak. The Wings play in Toronto tomorrow evening, with broadcast time on 1450 WHTC at 6:40 PM.
