UNDATED (WHTC) -- The Michigan Department of Natural Resources only issues 200 elk hunting tags each year and only 60 of those were allowed to take a male. Mlive reports that 63-year-old Tom Riemersma of Zeeland bagged a 510-pound, 13-point bull elk on Saturday in northern Michigan. He took the elk with a series of shots near Atlanta, a small town on M-32 between Gaylord and Alpena. The elk will be a memory for Riemersma as the elk tag rules stipulate that he will never be eligible for another elk hunt.
