ROBINSON TWP., MI (WHTC) - A 25-year-old Grand Haven Township man has been in the icy Grand River and on a hospital bed, but those may be just the beginning of his troubles.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant John Wolffis, the unnamed man drove past the end of 120th Avenue in Robinson Township around 5:30 this morning, slammed into a steel pole off of River Haven Marina, and partially submerged his car into the river. He was able to get out and stagger to a nearby house for help. The driver told deputies that he may have had others in the car with him at the time, but when the would-be passengers were located, they confirmed that they were not in the vehicle. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
An investigation continues.
