UNDATED (WHTC) -- Winter weather caused many problems on Lakeshore roads Tuesday afternoon. A jack-knifed 18-wheeler in the westbound lanes of I 96 near 68th Avenue in Coopersville had traffic backed up for more than two hours. Sergeant Steve Austin said that 40-year-old Jermaine Foxworth of Illinois was westbound on I-96 near 68th Avenue when he lost control of his rig, crossing into the median and jack-knifing his truck. An SUV driven by 19-year-old Cody Stanbaugh of Sand Lake was also westbound and he was not able to stop. His vehicle clipped the rear of the trailer, rolling onto the right side of the road. Stanbaugh was trapped and had to be extricated by Coopersville-Polkton Township Frie Rescue. He was transported to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital with serious injuries. Foxworth was uninjured but was cited for traveling too fast for conditions.
