LANSING, MI (WTVB) - A west Michigan lawmaker will propose legislation today in the State House that was inspired by the disappearance of Jessica Heeringa. The legislation would require that business owners either install security equipment or have two people on staff between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
The bill is being sponsored by Democratic House Representative. Collene LaMonte of Montague. She is calling it “Jessica’s Law”. They held a news conference in Montague yesterday. Heeringa was abducted as she was about to close up the Exxon Mobil gas station in Norton Shores last April.
