UNDATED (WHTC) -- A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect across the Lakeshore beginning at 9 A.M. Tuesday morning through 7 P.M. Tuesday night and with the lake-effect snow machine cranking up, it could be extended. The weather system is expected to dump 3 to 5 inches of snow from Allegan County northward tomorrow with winds gusting over 30 mph. The same system will stick around into Wednesday, with an additional 2 to 4 inches expected. Fewer than two inches are expected further away from the lake. According to the National Weather Service, one of the reasons for the lake effect snow is the fact that the temperature of Lake Michigan is still relatively “warm” right around 40 degrees. Authorities are advising people to not be on the roads any more than necessary.
