DETROIT (WKZO) -- The appeals process on Detroit's bankruptcy is moving forward.  The U.S. judge overseeing the city's bankruptcy set a hearing for December 16th to consider whether to expedite appeals of his ruling that declared Detroit eligible for bankruptcy protection.

U.S. bankruptcy judge Steven Rhodes will take up requests from city unions, retirees and pension funds to allow the appeals to avert U.S. District Court and go straight to the appeals court.  Rhodes ruled last week that Detroit met federal requirements for bankruptcy protection.

Some groups object to bankruptcy as the judge ruled that pensions could be cut as part of the city's restructuring.
