UNDATED (WHTC) -- An agricultural accident on Saturday sent one man to the hospital. Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Wilfong says deputies were dispatched to an accident involving 38-year-old Holland Township resident Timothy VanDerzwaag about 5:18 Saturday afternoon. VanDerzwaag was using a tractor to spread manure in a field on 120th Avenue. He got off the tractore to scrape the rest of the manure out of the bin when his clothing got caught in the PTO shaft, a frequent farming accident. VanDerzwaag was able to drive the tractor up near the road on 120th Avenue and was alert and talking when deputies and Holland Fire Rescue arrived on scene. He was taken to Holland Community Hospital and later transferred to Spectrum in Grand Rapids. He is listed in fair condition and the investigation continues into the accident.
