UNDATED (WHTC) -- The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department is reporting a good ending to what could have been a bad story. Lt. Mark Bennett says investigators spent the day in Grand Rapids looking for a 13-year-old Jenison girl, after her parents reported her missing Thursday morning. Bennett says detectives followed an email and text message trail. Her emails had been sent to an older male individual and during the course of the investigation, detectives identified him as a 38-year-old sex offender from the city of Grand Rapids. Investigators established a last known address for the man and were able to locate both the man and the girl with the help of the Grand Rapids Police Department and the Kent County Probation Office. The teen girl was found at his residence unharmed and she was released to her parents. The suspect was placed under arrest and is now lodged in the Kent County Jail. The incident remains under investigation.
