Grand Valley State was in Grand Rapids Community College’s Ford Fieldhouse to host a pair of basketball games versus Ashland last night. In the opener, Darren Kapustka capped a 16-point performance on a tie-breaking layup with 12 seconds left, as the Lakers scored 26 of the last 30 points to rally past the Eagles, 65-62. Suzy Wollenhaupt tossed in 29 points as Ashland’s women took the nightcap, 76-73. GVSU returns to its usual home venue of the Fieldhouse Arena in Allendale tomorrow afternoon for a twin-bill versus Lake Erie.
