ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI (WHTC) -- A traffic stop of a vehicle to give the driver an equipment violation citation on Thanksgiving Day resulted in an arrest for possession with intent to distribute marijuana. A Wayland Township deputy noted that a vehicle had an inoperable headlight and stopped the vehicle. When the deputy approached the vehicle, he noted a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. The driver told the deputy that he had smoked marijuana earlier and that he had some under his front seat. Upon investigation, the deputy found eight individual baggies of marijuana with a combined weight of just under ½ pound. The suspect was arrested and a search of the driver yielded prescription drugs that were not prescribed to him. He’s in the Allegan County Jail on drug-related charges.
