SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC) - About 150 people came to Saugatuck High School last night for a state DEQ hearing into a proposed two-lane, paved road that would provide access to the proposed Singapore Dunes development. Arguments over the merits of a 19-site residential plan in what environmentalists call sensitive dune land were brought up as the apparent center of the dispute. DEQ officials will take public comment through next Friday, September 5th, and make a decision on whether to approve the two-mile road by early November.
