UNDATED (WHTC) -- A former Tiger pitcher will be at a Whitecaps game doubleheader next week Wednesday. Tiger World Series Champion Denny McLain will be at Fifth Third Ballpark for the Whitecaps last home stand of the season. He’ll sign autographs, sell merchandise and provide free downloads of his book, “I Told You I Wasn’t Perfect” for fans at the game. McLain is the last 30-game winner since 1968, going 31-6 on the year to lead the Tigers to the World Series. He is one of only ten pitchers to win both the MVP and the Cy Young Awards in the same year. Current Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander also made that accomplishment in 2011.
