UNDATED (WHTC) - Anibal Sanchez scattered seven hits with five strikeouts over seven-plus innings, pitching the Tigers past visiting Kansas City last night, 4-1. The two teams have a day/night doubleheader at Comerica Park, with coverage on 1450 WHTC at both 12:40 PM and 6:40 PM.

Off yesterday, the Cubs welcome St. Louis to Wrigley Field for the start of a three-game series in Chicago this afternoon.

Chris Herrmann’s pinch-hit single in the bottom of the ninth inning plated the winning run, as Minnesota edged the visiting White Sox last night, 4-3. The series at Target Field in Minneapolis continues this evening.

Kellen Sweeney, batting at the bottom of Lansing’s order, drove in both of the Lugnuts’ runs, including a seventh-inning double that broke a 1-1 tie, as the visiting Toronto farm team beat the Whitecaps last night, 2-1. West Michigan looks to avoid being swept out of its own Fifth Third Ballpark in the series finale this evening.

The Lions managed just two field goals in a 24-6 exhibition loss at Cleveland last night. Detroit entertains New England at Ford Field next Thursday evening.

Robbie Gould booted four field goals, including two three-pointers in the fourth quarter that proved to be decisive, as the Bears outlasted visiting San Diego in preseason play last night, 33-28. Chicago travels to Oakland next Friday evening.
