UNDATED (WTVB) - Another reason to shed a few extra pounds and skip the supersize menu. The death toll from America's obesity epidemic may be close to four times higher than previous believed. Researchers say 18.2% of premature deaths in the U.S. between 1996 and 2006 were connected to excess body mass. The study published online in the American Journal of Public Health is much higher than the 5% cited by most researchers.
The report states that as obesity becomes more commonplace with each generation it could reduce the life expectancy of the overall population.
