GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) - Sentencing is on September 23rd for two persons who aren’t contesting fatal hit-and-run charges stemming from an Easter Morning incident that killed a 24-year-old Holland man. Yesterday, 23-year-old Maly Phongsavanh of Holland’s North Side agreed to the same plea deal that 27-year-old Jeremie Collins of Park Township had accepted two days earlier; her case was slated to go to trial next Wednesday. Prosecutors say that the two were racing luxury cars along Ottawa Beach Road near 152nd Avenue when they hit Joshua Owens, who had been crossing the roadway in the dark while walking towards an ATM machine. Phongsavanh and Collins will remain free on bond prior to sentencing, and each could get five years in prison and/or a five thousand-dollar fine.
