DETROIT (WKZO) -- The director of the Detroit Institute of Arts has vowed legal action to block any potential sale of its works.  On Tuesday, Museum Director Graham Beal was asked whether he would sue in the event of a move to take the museum’s art to satisfy creditors as part of Detroit’s bankruptcy filing and Beal replied, "Absolutely."

The announcement comes in response to Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr’s decision last week to pay Christie’s Appraisals to price the museum’s treasures.  According to officials, the museum hired an attorney several months ago to help develop strategies to protect its collection.
