NUNICA, MI (WHTC) - A 66-year-old Fruitport man suffered critical injuries while on his motorcycle overnight near the Ottawa-Muskegon county line.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Greg Rotman and fellow deputies were dispatched to the construction zone along westbound I-96 near Nunica just after 2 AM this morning. Russell Rose, riding a 2012 Harley Davidson, veered off of the roadway and crashed into the median near the eight mile marker.
Rose was taken to Specrtum-Butterworth Hospital for treatment. There were reports that the biker struck a construction barrel that had rolled onto the right-of-way, but all Rotman officially added was that Rose was helmeted, and that alcohol was not considered to be a factor in the crash, as an investigation continues.
