GRAWN (WKZO) -- A lot of people who live along receding rivers and creeks in west Michigan are learning exactly what their homeowners insurance will and will not pay for these days, and many are finding out they aren’t covered for floods.

A man who lives near Traverse City is finding out his homeowners policy doesn’t cover bullet holes. His ex-neighbor recently had a shoot out with police and during the exchange of gun fire his mobile home was hit five times by errant bullets.

Lance Reed says it cost him 15-hundred dollars to patch the holes and replace what was shattered inside. He checked with his Auto-Owners Agent for reimbursement and learned that while they will cover fire, smoke, flood, wind, riot or civil commotion, vandalism or mischief, even damage by burglary or falling aircraft, but not damage by bullets.

Grawn is just south of Traverse City.
