ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) - With last night’s unanimous approval by the Board of Education, a new two-year contract between Zeeland Schools and the Zeeland Education Association is now in effect. The deal, which was concluded after last month’s enactment of Michigan’s Freedom to Work Act, would set up a two-tier salary structure for unionized teachers hired before last July 1st and those afterward, along with increases in instructor health care premiums. The agreement also includes an early retirement incentive if 10 or more teachers accept it.
