HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Two men accused of assaulting a man during a robbery of a Holland home on Saturday morning are in custody.
Authorities say that the suspects, described as a 20-year-old Holland man and a 21-year-old man from the Chicago suburb of South Holland broke into the residence on West 14th Street between Maple and Washington avenues around 8 AM, Brandishing a weapon, they demanded money from the residents inside, and when the victims said that they didn't have any, the suspects then assaulted the 20-year-old man, took a large screen television, and fled.
The other residents were able to get a description of the vehicle, and one of the residents remembered meeting one of the suspects a week earlier. Less than an hour later, the vehicle was spotted and pulled over in South Haven with four persons inside, including the two suspects. They were arrested, and both the weapon used in the robbery and the stolen television were recovered.
The assaulted man was treated for minor injuries at Holland Hospital and released; the other residents were unhurt. The two suspects are lodged in the Ottawa County Jail pending an arraignment in Holland District Court this coming week.
