SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC) - Score one for Singapore Dunes in its long-standing battle with the Saugatuck Dunes Coastal Alliance. Last night, the Saugatuck Township Zoning Board of Appeals ruled that the SDCA has no legal standing to contest a township planning commission decision to allow the holding company of Aubrey McClendon to build a 25-unit condominium complex on land adjacent to the Saugatuck Dunes State Park. The appeals board ruling was based in part on the distance between neighboring homes and the development. The appeals board ruling apparently clears the way for the project to begin; however, it is believed that the SDCA will continue its fight in the courts.
