SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WHTC) - The Nuclear Regulatory Commission holds a public meeting at the Beach Haven Event Center in South Haven tonight. The two-and-a-half-hour session will go over the agency’s annual assessment of the Palisades plant in Covert during the past year. Representatives of plant operator Entergy will also be on hand to answer questions about the report. The NRC claims that Palisades operated safely during 2012 despite several shutdowns due to leaks. Environmentalists are seeking to close the plant due to several age-related concerns.
