LANSING (WKZO) -- An Ingham County Judge has ruled against the state in a dispute with employees over contributions to their retirement fund. The 2011 law required workers who are members of a pension plan to set aside four-percent of their salary.
The judge says the law violated the workers rights but the state argued employees could choose to switch their plan to a 401 (k) option. The judge disagreed saying employees would still be mandated to put in four percent of their salary.
The state will likely appeal the decision.
