HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Rolling furloughs at LG Chem/Compact Power’s lithium-ion battery plant on 48th Street in Holland, which began in late April, will continue. Company officials have told employees that rotating 75 percent of the around 200-person workforce is necessary due to low consumer demand for the Chevrolet Volt electric vehicles that the batteries are made for. There is no immediate timetable for when these layoffs would end.
