ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC) - Allegan County Commissioners toured the site of the new county jail yesterday, as work on converting the former Haworth plant on River Street into a 300-plus bed lockup and sheriff’s headquarters continues. Pre-formed jail cells have been delivered to the 189 thousand square-foot building, and the facility is slated to open in about a year. The 18 million-dollar jail replaces the 50-year-old current building that can’t be expanded.
