EAST LANSING, MI (WHTC) - State Representative Bob Genetski’s drunken driving case is slated to go to trial in East Lansing District Court today. The two-term Republican from Saugatuck’s vehicle was pulled over by a Michigan State University campus patrolman last January following the State of the State address, and a blood test taken two hours after the incident indicated an alcohol count of .08, which is the state’s drunken driving limit. If convicted, Genetski could get 93 days in jail, a 500-dollar fine, up to 360 hours of community service, and other penalties. He currently is on a one-year restricted license for refusing to take a breathalyzer test at the scene, and is only able to drive to and from his legislative duties. Genetski defeated Randy Brink in the Republican Primary in August and faces Democrat Stuart Peet of Shelbyville in the November General Election for a third and final term in the state House.
