Verlander, Chen were Pitching Heroes as Tigers Win and Sox Lose


UNDATED (WHTC) - Justin Verlander scattered five hits with five strikeouts over six innings, while Omar Infante drove in three runs, as the Tigers beat visiting Oakland last night, 6-2. The series at Comerica Park in Detroit concludes this afternoon. Coverage on 1450 WHTC begins at 12:40 PM.

Joey Votto knocked in three runs for Cincinnati, but the visiting Reds needed an RBI single from Drew Stubbs in the 11th inning to defeat the Cubs last night, 6-5. The finale of the series at Wrigley Field in Chicago is today.

Bruce Chen allowed five hits with four strikeouts in nearly seven innings, while Alex Gordon’s two-run double in the seventh inning proved to be the decisive hit, as Kansas City blanked the visiting White Sox last night, 3-0. The series at Kauffman Stadium ends this evening.
