LANSING (WKZO) -- U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood met with two-top Michigan Republicans to discuss a regional transit authority for Metro Detroit. On Friday, LaHood met with Michigan House Speaker Jase Bolger and House Majority Floor Leader Jim Stamas in an effort to win approval for the stalled transit authority.
According to LaHood, the meeting was to gauge whether the state would have the ability to pass a bill establishing a regional transportation authority. The transportation secretary says that the legislation is one of the last pieces needed in order to give Detroit the green light for a 25-million dollar light rail project.
