DETROIT (WKZO) -- As the jury selection process in the trial of ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick continues, attorneys for Kilpatrick and three co-defendants filed a motion for a change of venue this morning.
The lawyers argue that Kilpatrick, his father Bernard Kilpatrick, contractor Bobby Ferguson and former Detroit Water Department head Victor Mercado cannot get a fair trial in Detroit. Their motion also cites "safety concerns" for the defendants.
U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Edmunds said she would review the motion, but thought it was "premature."
