TALLMADGE TWP., MI (WHTC) - It was a harrowing hour or more for a Tallmadge Township woman just past midnight yesterday morning.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Detective Lieutenant Mark Bennett, deputies were called to a Linden Drive residence across the Grand River from the GVSU campus. The 29-year-old woman was able to call for help after being held by a 44-year-old neighbor with a knife, who sexually assaulted her during the ordeal.
The suspect was still at the home when police arrived and surrendered without incident; the weapon was not used on the victim. He is jailed awaiting arraignment on various charges, including parole violation, as he was freed this past March after serving time for a similar offense in Kent County seven years ago. The incident remains under investigation.
