KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Jill Biden, the wife of Vice President Joe Biden, spoke to a crowd of students gathered on Kalamazoo College's campus Saturday on a campaign swing through West Michigan.
Biden emphasized the importance of "looking out for the middle class" and how, she says, the democratic ticket has been consistently behind that message.
The second lady also spoke about the importance of casting a vote this November by recounting her very own first vote in politics that was, in fact, for her husband Joe Biden during their college years.
Some were critical of Biden's speech oration due to the constant touting by the Obama campaign that Mrs. Biden is a college professor with a doctorate degree and a small college setting such as Kalamazoo College should not have been a challenge for her. The second lady seemed rattled by the public speaking event as she stumbled over many of her words.
Biden came to Kalamazoo from a stop at the headquarters in Grand Rapids and then headed to another campaign office in Battle Creek.
