HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Holland-based office furniture maker Haworth announced plans to close its plant on the Blue Star Highway in Douglas. Voluntary severance packages will be offered to the 400 workers affected by the move, which will take place by the end of the first quarter of the company’s 2014 year. Operations in Douglas will be transferred to the 32nd Street plant in Holland, with work currently there shifted to a facility in Big Rapids. Company officials say that this is one of several production-related changes designed to streamline operations and improve product quality.
