BERRIEN COUNTY (WKZO) -- It’s about as cold as a cold case murder can get. State Police have reissued a request for information on the body of an elderly woman found wrapped in a sheet and plastic bags and dumped along Krueger Road near New Buffalo twenty years ago this month.
The woman would have worn dentures, but they were removed, and her hands cut off, just in case her fingerprints were on file someplace. There was no DNA back then and even if there were samples today, there would be no database to compare it too. She may have never been reported missing.
The sheet was the kind used in institutions and nursing homes, suggesting she had been in one or the other prior to her death.
It’s suspected she may have died somewhere in Illinois or Indiana and her body was dumped just over the state line, so some one could go on collecting her social security, and it will never be solved.
